P.zza Loggia 2

Questa è P.zza Loggia vista lasciando il palazzo della Loggia alle spalle e la Torre dell'orologio sulla destra. Notate il bellissimo balconcino in legno sulla torretta a sinistra della fotografia!

Torre dell'orologio * The clock tower

La torre dell’orologio, antistante il palazzo della Loggia, fu costruita tra il 1540 ed il 1550.
Sulla sue sommità vi è una campana in bronzo con due statue in rame ai lati, chiamati dai bresciani “Macc de le ure” (letteralemtte i "matti delle ore"). L'influenza veneziana è chiaramente visibile.Sotto la Torre dell'Orologio c'è una Stele (sulla destra) che ricorda le vittime della strage del 28 maggio 1974, durante una manifestazione antifascista.

The Clock Tower, just opposite the Loggia, was built between 1540 and 1550. On its top there's a bronze bell with two copper statues on the sides, called by the people of Brescia “Macc de le ure” (literally "the crazy of the hours" ). The Venetian influence is clearly visible. Underneath the Clock Tower there is a plaque (you can see it on the right ) in memory of the victims of the terrorist attack on the 28th of May 1974, during an anti-fascist demonstartion.

Chiesa*Church

Ho cercato di prenderla per intero ma anche appiattendomi sul muro opposto non ci sono riuscita (chiaramente solo perchè ho voluto riprenderla frontalmente!). Questa chiesa è sita in P.zza del Foro, vicino al Capitolium.

I tried to depict the entire church but flattening myself on the opposite wall clearly didn't help (I obviously wanted to take the picture from the front!).This church is in Piazza del Foro, next to the Capitolium.

Palazzo Martinengo

Palazzo Martinengo ( XVII secolo ) è un bel palazzo storico nel cuore della città, vicino a Piazza del Foro, oggi sede di mostre e interessanti percorsi storici alla riscoperta di Brescia.
In questo caso non ho voluto fotografare il palazzo vero e proprio ma l'entrata "secondaria" che apre su un bel cortile interno. Il centro storico, infatti, è costituito da vie costellate da portoni e cancelli che nascono al loro interno magnifici cortili e giardinetti. Il vero segreto della città!

Palazzo Martinengo ( XVII century ) is a beautiful historic building in the heart fo the town, just next to Piazza del Foro, today is a place for interesting exhibitions about historic Brescia.
I didn't want to take a picture of the building itself but I depicted the secondary entrance instead, opening on a lovely courtyard. The historic centre is indeed made up of little streets with main doors and gates that hide wonderful courtyards and gardens. The true secret of the town!

Piazza del Foro

Piazza del Foro (96 d.C.), vicino al tempio Capitolino (vedi post precedente), era la sede principale degli scambi commerciali tra i Romani, una specie di piazza del mercato moderna. Come si nota dalla fotogrfia, il livello delle strade era molto più basso del livello attuale.

Piazza del Foro (96 d.C.), next to the Capitolium (see post below), was the main place for commercial exchanges between Romans, a sort of modern marker square. As you can see from the picture the level of the streets at that time was way below the actual one.

Sembra una collina in fumo ma così non è ... la pioggia incessante di questi giorni ha contribuito a questo singolare scatto delle colline bresciane (i Ronchi).

It looks like a hill on fire but it's not...the unceasing rain was essential to this peculiar shot of the hills in Brescia (Ronchi).
