Torre dell'orologio * The clock tower

The Clock Tower, just opposite the Loggia, was built between 1540 and 1550. On its top there's a bronze bell with two copper statues on the sides, called by the people of Brescia “Macc de le ure” (literally "the crazy of the hours" ). The Venetian influence is clearly visible. Underneath the Clock Tower there is a plaque (you can see it on the right ) in memory of the victims of the terrorist attack on the 28th of May 1974, during an anti-fascist demonstartion.

I like the idea of the "macc de le ure" and the clock is impressive with its 24 quadrants. Someone has a balcony on the square, I see...

I like both the clock face itself and the bell clappers!

I think this is the first time I've seen a round dial with 24 divisions — I'd probably have a hard time reading it quickly! :)
